The location of Southview Cemetery is in a housing addition just S and W of NE 10th and Choctaw Road
in Choctaw, Oklahoma. It is at the intersection of NE 6th Street and Sandy Lane.
The GPS coordinates are 352830N and 0971628W.
The cemetery was created in 1902 when Robert Ewing deeded one acre of his homestead to the Trustees of the Negro Burial Association
for a burial ground for colored people. At burial the funeral homes placed their markers, which are not permanent. There were a few headstones
placed. After a number of years the cemetery began to be neglected and grass grew wildly.
The few headstones suffered from deterioration and vandalism. None of the markers and headstones are visible now.
Today the cemetery is maintained by the City of Choctaw.
